8 Weeks Out From Atlantic Classics

Another week in the books! I can tell you one thing the workouts must have caught up to me because I was super sore at the start of the week. I think it also had to do with me being a bit stupid trying to push my limits. I had the brighht idea on Sunday (the day after I worked my lower body) to do 2 back to back cardio sessions as well as my weight training. I nearly died - lesson learned! At least on Sunday I also took the whole morning to rest and literally do nothing. I barely moved which was nice - it helps me a lot mentally when I am not rushing around. Slowing things down really does get me ahead even though it might feel like I am falling behind.

My workouts were the same as last week. The cardio sessions are really starting to get to me. I'm not a fan of steady state cardio unless I'm outside running. I cannot wait for those sunny day runs. I have recently discovered that I do like HIIT but doing 3 sessions 3 days in a row so I may try and split those cardio sessions up next week.

My food was always the same as last week which I have zero problems with it. I'm the type of girl that can eat the same meals for days in a row. I know that's not for everyone but I find it helps me a lot and I enjoy the foods I am eating so why not, right? I also tried adding nutritional yeast to my eggs which I must say was pretty good (and a nice change). You can find the recipe here.

The crappy part of this last week was that I didn't get to play any ball hockey. :( Tuesday night I went out with a friend to a canvas and cocktails event (painting) which was fun on it's own but it meant I had to miss ball hockey. If you want to see what I painted and read about my experience you can do so here. Our usual Wednesday night ball hockey was canceled because of construction (since it is March break it's a great time to do it). The funny part is that my body probably needed the extra rest because my progress this week was killer. My coach also reminded me of this..."since you rested a bit more this week your body was able to recover more and that usually leads to weight loss after you have been pushing super hard for so many weeks. That's a good thing! Your body need recovery too. This is just as important as the exercise itself. More is not always better!"

Something that I hold very dearly to my heart is to love your body - no matter what. I think it stems from my binge eating days and how loving myself and my body helped me so much. I see too much body hate. I see too many diets and diet mentality. I hear too much emphasis on body negativity and less emphasis on how people feel and body positivity. I believe in order to change the world and to change the thinking it starts with me. It starts small and builds. So from me to you...please learn to love yourself. If you don't know how to love yourself send me a message and I would be more than happy to help you through the process!

Since I had a bit more free time on my hands this week I was actually able to start PiYo. PiYo is an at home workout that mixes yoga and pilates. At my posing lessons a couple of weeks ago, the girl suggested for me to do some yoga/pilates to help with posing (all about standing tall and breathing) so I decided to give this hybrid a try - man, did I ever forget how hard those workouts can be. It was only 20 minutes though and it helped stretch me out too (BONUS).

My weigh in Saturday morning was really good. I weighed in at 119.4 lbs which is down from last week by 3 lbs! I really believe that my body was needing the rest to recover since the only difference this week was no extra ball hockey. Pretty neat, eh? So I am down 7.9 lbs from the start of prep (starting weight: 127.3 lbs). What can I say? I am on a prep high - I'm doing the best I can do and that's all I could ever ask.
