7 Weeks Out From Atlantic Classics
Okay, I'm starting to get nervous...more nervous. This last week was 7 weeks until competition and that means I am going into my 6th week before I step on stage for the first time. Scary...uh yeah! But it's also exciting. I've been reading a ton of personal development books lately. I swear, everyone should be reading personal development. I'm not sure why we grow up thinking that personal development books are "dumb" but if you grew up like me that's basically your opinion on them. I only started reading them because I saw how many people around me were reading them...ladies who are #badass and ladies that I admire, including my coach. She recommended 'The Happiness Project' so I picked that up and started reading it (and I also finished off some older books I had this week too...pretty productive if you ask me and because of that I feel really good mentally).
My workouts this week were pretty similar to last week...a few increases in sets for certain exercises but all the same exercises. HMV went out of business and my boyfriend got a sweet deal on a TMNT tank that I couldn't wait to wear for my workout. I found my inner TMNT strength that day.
Food was also the same this week except I was allowed an extra 250 calories as my 'treat' so I chose to make some delicious maple syrup protein pancakes. I topped them with Walden's Farms pancake syrup. I'm not a gal for artificial sweeteners and flavours...but during this prep I've had more than what I've had my entire life I'm sure (because I just never put them in my body). Having said that, I do believe in everything in moderation...so I still limit it every chance I get. It really re-enforced the idea of why I love Shakeology (and all of Beachbody products) so much...no artificial sweeteners or flavours (in fact, their products are very nutrient dense rather than filled with fillers). I was able to pick up a few things for my goodie box for the end of competition - keep in mind I will not be eating this whole box in 1 sitting. This is just some treats I will be having over the next few months after competition. The box is basically full now - just enough room for some mini eggs and peanut butter egg cups (Easter treats). I picked up Beanitos (bean 'chips') and 2 chocolate bars from my favourite company, Alter Eco (sea salt and toffee).
St. Patrick's Day happened this week too. We spent the evening playing board games with friends - no beer or treats for me and I was okay with that. I'm not having too many cravings...or any really. I guess the worst craving (if you even want to call it that) was smelling french fries at the University Cup hockey tournament that I attended. BTW - very exciting hockey. If you get a chance to catch a game, just do it!
I also made a pretty big decision this week. As all of you know, I am a Beachbody mentor. I love it...I really do but I also know that I haven't put nearly as much time into this little business as I should be (or want). I haven't been making it a priority in my life for whatever reason - I could use a million excuses but that's exactly what they are - excuses. So, I've picked myself up and brushed myself off to really start working this little business of mine. I know I have a lot to offer people who want to start living a healthier life so why have I been so hesitant? Who knows! I know I'm a bit scared and fearful but that's normal. I'm not sure where this will take me but it's important to me right now and that's all that matters.
So, with all that being said I know I have to work on my posing more...it's been my least favourite part of the process so far but it's because it's a weakness of mine. But not that I'm just 6 weeks out I need to make sure I dedicate time each day towards it.
As usual, my progress pics are below. My weight stayed the exact same this week as last, 119.4 lbs. Aunt Flo is also visiting this week. One thing that always interested me before competing was if women lose their periods (TMI?). Turns out, it's about 50/50 according to me coach...so far, mine's hanging around. 6 more weeks to go - it's going SO FAST!
