Happiness Is Part Of The Journey Not The Destination
I use to think 'I will be happy when I weigh x amount' or 'things will be different when I reach my goal weight'. I finally reached my goal weight last year around this time after 4 years of trying (I don't give up easily) and guess what? I didn't feel any different.
I had been going to the gym for those 4 years but struggling with keeping my nutrition in check. I had looked up several types of eating - paleo, whole30, this diet, that diet and I even tried different ways of eating but quickly realized that that type of eating wasn't a lifestyle for me. Why would I ever want to eat a certain way just for a month or so and then go back to old habits, right? I wanted something for life. Macros really interested me but I didn't want to count everything all the time. Fast forward to last summer when I was introduced to Beachbody. I initially just did some of their workouts because I didn't want to be stuck on some shake for life. And I also didn't want that shake to make me gain weight after I would get off it. We've all seen it happen...over and over and over again. But shortly after I saw how awesome the workouts were and how the trainers were actually personal trainers as well as some even being in body building/bikini competitions I started to get interested in what they recommended for food. One of the main nutritional programs offered was based off macros and they didn't eliminate carbs! WE NEED CARBS PERIOD. And I also noticed that the company had protein (which I was already taking) and some pre workout supplements...similar to what you would see at GNC BUT these were made from natural ingredients (something that was becoming more and more interesting to me at the time). Additionally, there was this shake that everyone seemed to be talking about. Initially, I thought 'oh protein' but protein was just one component. I then thought 'oh goodness...one of those shakes that is claiming miracle weight loss that you need to be drinking all o your life'. Nope! I was wrong...and I HATE admitting I was wrong. I started looking into it...and asking my coach about it (oh yeah! I was assigned a free Beachbody coach to help me...and now I can be your free coach). I eventually realized that this shake was natural ingredients ground up to give me a good portion of my essential nutrients and that weight loss is a result of exercising and eating well and that shake was just there to HELP eating well...not some miracle weight loss shake. So, what made me feel better over the last year? Changing my mind that I couldn't have done on my own. Surrounding myself with like minded people. Learning about myself and what makes me tick. And pushing myself during every workout. Make the journey a happy one. Celebrate everything you can because there is not a switch that will turn on once you reach your goal weight...I can promise you that.
